I keep reading about how the many people are disgusted and upset about Americans saying they don’t want to bring a bunch of refugees into this country from Syria. Often those who complain loudly about it say that it is because of racism. I would refute that idea.
America has long been a land of welcoming arms to refugees of all colors. The rules for welcoming them were strenuous, and time consuming. The numerous questions and checks with the home country were long and involved. When our country perceived that it would be unable to vet those people who wanted to come in and rightly feared violence coming from them, those particular people were banned. I speak specifically of the Serbians prior to and for many years after WWI. Because of our inability to weed out violent anarchists we banned them entry for a long time.
The main complaint I hear repeatedly is that no one trusts the government to care for small children, much less decided if random strangers claiming to be from Syria are actually: a) from Syria And b) not ISIS terrorists. This is the same government that HIRED 73 people to work for TSA who were on the Terror watch list. This is the same government that admits it gives away billions in government subsidies to folks who are illegal, but can’t figure who they are. This is the same government who gave guns to drug dealers and then lost them, only to have them reappear and kill American policemen. But somehow they are going to vet people from a country not friendly to us and with no reliable way to be checked out from their own country. Uh huh.
The resounding question I have yet to hear answered is why are we bringing these people here instead of holding them in neighboring countries? We can provide food, shelter, and clothing as easily in Jordan as we can in New Orleans. Dr. Ben Carson tells us that these folks don’t really want to come to the USA, they really want to go home. Now that Russia and France are serious about killing ISIS, they might get that chance, and it is going to be a lot harder to get them home if they are here instead of Jordan.
The next complaint I truly feel needs answering is why are we spending American treasure to aid people who are truly not our problem. Yes I know those of you who are more compassionate will say “Because we can’t let them starve over there.” Really? Why these refugees and not those from Darfur 10 years ago? Why not the Japanese made homeless after the tsunami a few years ago? Why not the people of Sierra Leon who were dying of ebola last year? Why these refugees? If we could stand idly by and watch these others in need do without being brought to the open arms of America, why these Syrians?
And last but not least, why are we denying Christians of Syria and not Muslims entrance? If it is all about protecting those who are in the most danger, why are we not expediting the movement of Christians who are being genocidally slaughtered in Syria by ISIS? Why out of all the Muslims brought to the US in the last few months have only 4 Christians been allowed in? Could it be that our government thinks it has more to fear from Christians than from those of Islamic faith? Or could it be that humanitarian ideals have nothing to do with the whole process?
Obama and company are bringing in fresh voters by the boatload. People from other countries who are not acclimated to our form of government in order to give them the right to vote, and tell them they get to vote for more food and housing (by voting Democrat). Obama doesn’t think that not being an American is a reason why refugees shouldn’t vote. Obama thinks that what America needs to improve it is a massive load of uneducated, unskilled foreigners to improve our way of thinking. Because Obama believes in the idea of majority rule, not Republicanism. What was it Longshanks told his men? “If we can’t run them out, we’ll by God breed them out.”
